IPOB has accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of working against the Biafra struggle.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of masterminding a plot of his masters in Aso Rock to halt the Biafra struggle by nailing the remaining IPOB members and other agitators.
According to Vanguard, the group on Monday, July 18, reacting to a weekend’s meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo held in Owerri, the Imo state capital convened by Governor Rochas Okorocha, described the meeting as a mere jamboree.
In a press statement issued in Onitsha, Anambra state, by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB alleged that some faceless persons in Abuja convened the meeting to discuss their secret agenda against the Biafra struggle.
IPOB criticised Igbo elders and some southeast governors who attended the meeting convened by Okorocha, who they alleged destroyed the south-east governors forum because of his selfish interest.
Meanwhile, the relentless agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra has moved President Muhammadu Buhari to set up a presidential committee to look into the activities of pro-Biafra groups in the country, particularly those of Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
According to the Sun, the president few weeks ago called for a meeting which had in attendance former president Olusegun Obasanjo, top government functionaries and other stakeholders over the security threats posed by pro-Biafra groups.
Following the secret meeting, a decision was arrived at to set up a committee which would comprise mostly retired military, police and other security personnel would have a mandate to fashion out strategies to address the security challenge posed by the groups.
