The NCS Area Controller, Tin-Can Island command, Comptroller Yusuf Bashar has revealed that his men intercepted a pistol and four bullets concealed inside a car.
Bashar made the revelation while briefing maritime correspondents in Lagos yesterday, July 21.
According to him, the pistol was discovered in a Toyota Camry Solara with Chassis No 4TIFA38P46U065280, while another Toyota Matrix with a Chassis No 2TILE4EE08C013249 was also intercepted along with the Toyota Camry Solara.
His words: “The Toyota Matrix was intercepted because the same importer that brought the Toyota Camry Solara is also the one that imported the Toyota Matrix.
“This will assist the Customs in further investigation because the pistol is six-round reversal type which is dangerous.
“Customs would have handed it over to the Police but the vehicles arrived on Saturday July 16 at Five Star Logistics, while the terminal operators alerted Customs officers immediately they discovered the pistol in the vehicle.”
The News Agency of Nigeria quoted Bashar as saying the vehicles were imported from the United States of America.
He urged journalists to feel free to approach his command anytime they need information so that they would be able to report the truth to the public.
He also informed journalists present that his command would hand over the seizures to the Police after concluding their own investigation.
