Lagos, a city said to be one of the busiest cities in the world with about 17.5 million residents has been battling with waste management. Could this be as a result of its heterogeneous feature?
The heaps of dirts apparently are not appealing to the eyes and poses a threat to human lives as it can be detrimental to people's health as stated by one of the residents when interviewed.
However, Ogba residents implore the state government to create a more strategised way of disposing their environmental wastes properly in locations where it'll be less visible and also assist them with the distribution of waste bags so as to aid appropriate manner of sorting and packing their refuse.
Furthermore, it is paramount that people should be educated on 'recycling' and its benefits which can only be achieved by proper sorting of refuse and also informing them on how it can enhance the management of wastes in the society.
Indeed, there's a need for swift change as regards waste management in Lagos.
